The 332CL class boats combine all the core capabilities of mine defence. The refit is a good example of successful cooperation between the navy and industry.
Following the introduction of ten Frankenthal-class (332A) minehunting boats and the conversion of the ten Hameln-class boats into five Ensdorf-class (352) and five Kulmbach-class (333) boats, the German Navy has had three different systems for naval mine warfare since 2001. A fourth variant was introduced with the conversion of two Class 332A minehunting boats into pure Class 332B minehunter patrol boats.
