Corona times friendly

Different rules obviously apply at sea: The Berlin boarding team has had positive experiences with corona. However, it was not the omnipresent virus, but a merchant ship with the contemporary name Corona J. The initially suspicious container ship was on its way from Port Said to Misurata in Libya when the crew of the German task force supply vessel approached it and asked the captain for permission to check the cargo and papers on board. After obtaining the captain's permission, the Lithuanian soldiers from the boarding team boarded the Corona J via Sea Lynx, where both sides were astonished...

TCG Kemalreis leaves SNMG 2

After around two and a half months, the Turkish frigate Kemalreis has left Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 (SNMG 2). According to NATO information, only the Spanish destroyer Méndez Núñez is now part of this group. SNMG 2 is commanded by Spanish Flotilla Admiral Manuel Aguirre Aldereguía. The Kemalreis is no stranger to German eyes: Although she was built by Gölcük Naval Shipyard in the late 1990s, the Meko-200 design comes from Blohm+Voss. German Navy does not receive used French MPAs

The German Navy is currently struggling to find a successor for its Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPAs) in the near future. The Navy currently operates a fleet of four P-3Cs, which were taken over in used condition from the Dutch Navy in 2006. The original plan was for these aircraft to fly into the 2030s before being replaced by a modern aircraft to be developed jointly with France. However, the current poor condition of the German P-3C makes a much earlier replacement necessary. There was talk of an "interim solution" to bridge the gap until the introduction of the Franco-German MPA, which has yet to be developed. Paris...
